2017 RAMADAN CARE PACKAGE PROGRAM

The one who has the most blessed life is the one who supports others during his life.
— Imam Ali, A.S.

Our mission at Masjid al-Rabia is simple: spiritual support for marginalized Muslims. Putting that mission into practice requires support from people like you

Too often, our siblings behind bars are denied access to any form spiritual support. This is especially true for incarcerated LGBTQIA+ people of faith. Partnering with Black and Pink, Masjid al-Rabia has begun building an infrastructure of support for incarcerated LGBTQ Muslims - "free world" pen pals connected with our incarcerated siblings across the country. We have sent out Qur'ans from Chicago to San Francisco - and continue to make new connections every week. This Ramadan, we are taking our program a step further.

We are going to do everything we can to make sure no one has to spend their Ramadan alone. For the next month, we are collecting monetary and physical donations to put together Ramadan Care Packages for our LGBTQIA+ Muslim siblings behind bars.

You can help.

Here is how you can help us make sure
no soul spends Ramadan alone:

BECOME A PEN PAL

This is the best and easiest way to volunteer to support some of the most marginalized in our community. Become a pen pal and help provide emotional and spiritual support for a dramatically under-served community.

MAKE A DONATION ONLINE

Money is the most effective and versatile way to provide support for our family behind bars. Most of the money will go towards buying snacks, books, and small gifts. For our siblings in detention centers or prisons that make it extremely difficult to receive physical packages, we will send money directly into commissary accounts.

For the rest of this month and up until Ramadan, any donations made to Masjid al-Rabia via our website will go directly towards our Ramadan Care Package Program.

SEND BOOKS
VIA USPS

We are actively seeking critical feminist and minority sect Islamic literature, unused crossword and puzzle books, books on crafting, and books on working out without equipment.

Many institutions refuse book donations unless they are delivered direct from the publisher. We are excited to receive your books and find a new home for them, but this is another situation in which financial support is most effective.

You can send new-to-lightly-used books via US Postal Service to:

Masjid al-Rabia
PO Box #408325
Chicago, IL 60640

(Sorry, we cannot accept donations through UPS or FedEx)

MAKE AN
IN-PERSON DONATION

Every Friday in Chicago, you can come visit Masjid al-Rabia for jummah prayers. From now through to the end of Ramadan, we will be accepting in-person donations of packaged food, dates, books, and stationary.
